Lake Pleasant to Crown King
12/28/2002
Great run. We had 15 vehicles up until after the first obstacle. The third vehicle in line broke a front drive shaft. After removing the offending appendage the driver decided to head back. He had many offers of escorts but after getting up the only potentially problematic hills he invited his escort to return to the group (he got back home with no difficulty). The rest of the trail was less traumatic and by 12:30 we made it to the sight of Fort Misery where we stopped for lunch.
After lunch and within 5 miles of Crown King we came upon snow on the road that made for some slippery going. At Crown King itself there was about 4" of snow on the ground. After some small talk our group split up and headed home.
Thanks to all of you who attended. It was a great time.
